Thanks to Medway for hosting an enjoyable early afternoon fixture. The match allowed both teams a run out before the following weekend's Kent finals. The weather remained thankfully dry given the bitterly cold conditions on the Priestfields ground high overlooking the Medway estuary. A decent warm-up from 7Wells squad of 13 set-up an extremely strong start with some powerful runs seeing three unanswered tries in the first quarter. Medway soon warmed to their task, however, and topped the scoring in a much close second quarter. A great deal of stamina was on display for the full 40 minute match as both teams worked on different areas of focus for their developing teams. Excellent discpiline, rucking, and ball handling led to an open and end-to-end match.
There were plenty of smiles at the final whistle and both teams gave the usual hearty three cheers before dashing to warmer changing rooms, showers and an excellent beef stew in the club house.
7Wells are looking forward to the Waterfall finals next week where they take on Gravesend, Ashford and Bromley in the Kent Cup competition.
