7Wells travelled to Old Beccehamians to take on the Crimson Beccs - an age group collaboration between the home club and Old Colfeians' - on Sunday 10 November. The friendly came a week before the U12 Female Kent Clubs' Waterfall tournament to be hosted at one of our home grounds: Tunbridge Wells Rugby Club.
One of the features of the 7Wells team this season has been starting fast. A focused and physical warm-up must have helped, as in the first half 7Wells were able to convert possession into tries taking a large early lead. An excellent Beccehamian's ref kept the game flowing and the team put in a very good first half performance.
However, this was a maximum length U12s match of 20 minutes each way and stamina became key. After half-time Crimson Beccs came back very strongly, scoring a number of unanswered tries as the away team flagged under persistent pressure.
7Wells held out well for a good win and were made very welcome with food, thanks and player awards in Old Beccs' clubhouse.
We look forward to welcoming the home team to St Marks next week.
Final score: 7Wells 8 Tries - 5 Tries Crimson Beccs.
