A team of 18 Tunbridge Wells Ladies players faced Seaford Scarlets in their first game of the season, which was a cup game.
While the score was 5-62, the ladies’ performance wasn’t reflected through this tough defeat. It was a heavy defensive game for the majority of the 80 minutes and not one player’s head went down through the thick of this game.
The whole team put in brutal tackles and showed consistent determination with relentless drive, both mentally and physically.
This game showed pride in performance and lessons through loss. We are now looking forward to developing these areas at training that need improvement, with plenty of positives as well. We can’t wait to take our growing team into the next game and show each week how much we are flourishing together.
Congratulations to our:
> Forward of the Match – Fiona Horne
> Back of the Match – Penny Horne
> Debutants – Penny, Grace York & Niamh Harrington
A massive thank you and well done to Hailey from Crowborough RFC for coming to play with us ?
And lastly, well done to Cerys Adams for scoring a great try during the game from one of the kick offs – she pushed up in defence, fly-hacked the ball, scooped it up and went on to score. Good Luck to Cerys as she is leaving us to go to university – best of luck! ?
Don’t miss our next game vs Sheppey Ewes, where we are going to hit the league table hard and lay everything out on the pitch again!
