Rugby has always been about more than what happens on the pitch. It is about community, friendship, teamwork and the connections that grow through the game. Our recent friendly fixture between Tunbridge Wells RFC U12 Girls and Crowborough was a wonderful example of that spirit, bringing together two girls’ rugby communities from neighbouring counties.

Wells welcomed the opportunity to share the pitch with Crowborough U12 Girls. Although a county boundary separates the two clubs, there is very little distance between them when it comes to a shared enthusiasm for developing girls’ rugby.

Friendly fixtures like this are an important part of that journey. They give players the chance to put their skills into practice, experience different styles of play, build confidence and, most importantly, enjoy playing the game. They also create opportunities for girls to meet other players who share their enthusiasm for rugby and to form friendships beyond their own club.

At Tunbridge Wells RFC, we are proud of the community that surrounds our girls’ teams. We want every player to feel included, valued and encouraged, whether they are taking their first steps in rugby or developing their skills and ambitions on the pitch. Fixtures such as this remind us how much can be achieved when clubs work together.
