On return to rugby this season, we were sad to learn of the news that mother of TWRFC U13s player Etienne Menardi Jones, Helene Menardi, has gone into a hospice for end-of-life care. Kent online wrote an inspiring piece about Helene and her 10-year battle with Cancer.
Helene has always been a huge supporter of Tunbridge Wells RFC and we have fond stories of the loudest and most vociferous cheering for Etienne on the sideline. A regular tourist with the age group, Helene has always been the life and soul of the group, and we were all deeply saddened to learn of the news.
A friend of the family set up a GoFundMe site where she raised the challenges that not only Helene has had to ensure but also the heavy financial hardship on the family. Marcus, Helene’s husband has turned down many work opportunities so he could be at her side and be there for their three children. As a family, they made a difficult but beautiful choice. They began to treat every birthday and every Christmas as if it might be the last. They spent their income creating lasting memories and living every moment to the fullest, choosing to prioritise today's happiness over tomorrow's problems.
Tunbridge Wells RFC would like to share this on behalf of Helene, Marcus and the family to help support them during this time. Please share or donate what you can. (CLICK HERE)
