On Thursday 1st October a team representing TWRFC made up of Steve Bassi,Jim Hendley,Robbie Sloan and Steve Webb , played in the Wooden Spoon Rugby Clubs Golf Championship Regional Final at Burhill, having got through the qualifying event at Betchworth Park earlier in the year.

 

On a beautiful Autumnal day and competing against 18 other teams, including local rivals Tonbridge Juddians, they managed to finish as runners up and therefore qualify for the National Final at Walton Heath on Friday 16th October, winning a couple of RAM rugby balls and kicking tees for the club in the process.

 

Playing off 3/4 handicap betterball in pairs,Beckenham won the event with a huge total of 86 points, but Tunbridge Wells just pipped Hove into second place on a countback with 79 points, Hove also qualified for the Final. Tonbridge Juddians were………………………..nowhere!

 

Unfortunately they didn't win the final but Jimmy was the Drinking King and Robbie won the Guinness..... See below
